Braue is the only member of the 20-member Task Force to be appointed by Governor Hogan. The Task Force was created to examine whether the State agency that now is assigned the tasks of regulating the State alcoholic beverages industry and enforcing State alcoholic beverages laws is the most appropriate agency to ensure the safety and welfare of the residents of Maryland and make recommendations on regulatory changes to the alcohol laws in Maryland. The Task Force, which meets for the first time on Wednesday, September 12, will report to the General Assembly.
“I am honored that Governor Hogan has selected me to represent him on the Alcohol Task Force. I will keep the public’s best interest in mind as we review multiple issues concerning alcohol regulation, enforcement and safety,” said Braue. “I am looking forward to exchanging ideas with the other members of the task force on the best way to modernize Maryland’s alcohol laws to encourage Maryland businesses to enter the market and to provide citizens with more choices.”
Braue has more than twenty years of experience in corporate law and government affairs, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and venture capital transactions. Throughout his career, he has led deal teams in complex, multibillion-dollar financing and acquisitions. Before forming Nemphos Braue, he was special counsel at Duane Morris LLP and an associate at DLA Piper. Braue has also served in high-level positions in both the federal and Maryland state government.
Braue served in the White House as Deputy Associate Director of Presidential Personnel and was later appointed by President George W. Bush to be the Counsel to the Attorney General in the U.S Department of Justice. Braue was the Deputy Secretary of Appointments for Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., and he also led Governor Larry Hogan’s transition team for economic development and education agencies. At Nemphos Braue, he focuses his practice on sophisticated corporate transactions and represents private companies, venture capital investors and private equity funds. He is also the President of Old Line Government Affairs, LLC.
