Hosted at ETC (Emerging Technology Center) in Highlandtown, Baltimore Innovation Week 2022 featured numerous workshops, panels, an open mic pitch night and more opportunities to bring Baltimore’s startup community together. Nemphos Braue was proud to be a part of this year’s event, and sponsored a session on Helping Founders Flourish and Raise Millions.
In an “ask me anything” conversation with host Phil Castro, George Nemphos shared insights on tax implications for different corporate structure options, valuations, boards, SAFEs, and actual deal examples. He answered questions about different equity, stock, and debt options, and discussed the current state of seed stages – and how the lines are blurring in today’s marketplace.
Following the legal chat with George, Phil also spoke with Kristen Valdes on her experience raising capital, and then hosted a panel with three investors – Mike Leffer of Riptide Ventures, McKeever “Mac” Conwell, II, of RareBreed Ventures, and Margaret Roth Falzon at Squadra Ventures — who gave honest and candid feedback on what they look for when investing in a startup.

In establishing Nemphos Braue, George and co-founder Tim Braue sought to build a place where they could practice the law differently, and part of that means being a founder-friendly legal source for entrepreneurs. Learn more about our Entrepreneurs and Emerging Companies practice.
