Nemphos Braue Launches Cannabis Division and Adds Experienced Attorney Bill Huber to Support Clients
BALTIMORE, MD — Experienced in supporting clients in corporate law matters across a wide range of industries, Nemphos Braue LLC is launching its cannabis-focused practice and bringing on experienced attorney Bill Huber as Of Counsel to support clients at all stages and in all areas of the cannabis industry.
With approved medical use of marijuana in Maryland and a growing list of states that have also legalized adult recreational use, Nemphos Braue is poised to support businesses in the full spectrum of the cannabis industry–from cultivation to processing to dispensaries–along with the investors, service providers and partners who are involved with business pursuits in and around cannabis. Nemphos Braue provides legal services ranging from intellectual property, capital raises and financing to buying or selling a business, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate counsel.
“Part of what makes us a different kind of law firm is our versatility and ability to address the growing needs of our client base,” said George Nemphos, Nemphos Braue Co-Founder and Managing Member. “Adding Bill to the team positions us right at the intersection of cannabis and healthcare with entrepreneurs and emerging businesses, and allows Nemphos Braue to continue serving our clients, not just as their counsel, but also as a strategic business partner in a complex and thriving area.”
Growing the team at Nemphos Braue allows the firm to continue offering boutique-level, hands-on and in-depth guidance to its clients.
Nemphos Braue Of Counsel Bill Huber has spent more than 20 years as an attorney, specializing in complex transactions, corporate structuring and governance, regulatory compliance, employment matters, joint ventures, investment capital and financing arrangements, and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Huber most recently served as in-house counsel for a large multinational cannabis organization, addressing the full spectrum of corporate formation and product development from seed-to-sale, and co-founded a Maryland-based medical cannabis dispensary. Through this experience, he has acquired deep subject matter expertise not only within the cannabis industry, but also in manufacturing, supply-chain management, food and beverage regulatory compliance, and hands-on entrepreneurial experience to support other startups.
Previously Mr. Huber spent 15 years in the healthcare space, serving as in-house counsel for numerous healthcare companies including UnitedHealth Group, Magellan Health and Maxim Healthcare Services, providing counsel for product development, drafting and negotiating large contracts, joint ventures, vendor arrangements and licensing agreements. Working in highly specialized areas, Mr. Huber is experienced in managing compliance and regulatory affairs functions, privacy and security issues, and contractual service arrangements including employment, supply chain development, wholesale and distribution, private-label and toll manufacturing, construction, and a variety of technology software and device applications.
Mr. Huber earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Penn., and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Massachusetts School of Law. He has been admitted to the Bar in both Maryland and Massachusetts.
